Whitewater Rafting Guide
The Best Rafting Rivers for Fall
River-rafting operations can run well into November on some rivers when fall rainfall permits. And while it may be getting a little chilly for long days on the water, highlights include the chance to see the changing fall foliage from the privileged vantage of a raft. Fall is also the only time to run such dam-fed classics as the Gauley River in West Virginia and slightly-tamer Tieton River in the gorges west of Yakima, Washington. You also can dodge the bigger crowds and heat of the Grand Canyon by running the Big Ditch outside of peak summer season.
