Roosevelt National Forest

Around the Forest

The Brainard Lake Recreation Area offers access to many of the trails that lead into the Indian Peaks Wilderness. During the winter, the area becomes a mecca for Nordic skiing and snowshoeing. A web of trails radiates outward from the lake, totaling some 30 miles of well-marked terrain.

Rocky Mountain National Park borders the Roosevelt National Forest. Nearby towns include Estes Park, Loveland, Fort Collins, Poudre Park, Bellvue, and Walden. The forest is about a one-hour drive from Boulder, Denver and Fort Collins.
