  • From Summit Lake Trailhead:
    2.0 miles, 1,420 feet

This is a short, popular route. If you are more interested in an outing than a climb, this may be it. Start at the Summit Lake Trailhead. From the east side of Summit Lake, hike south and a little east to Evans' talus-covered northeast face. Climb south up the northeast face for 0.6 mile to the summit.

Do not confuse Evans' gentle northeast face with the steep northwest face. Many people have been involved in accidents on the northwest face when trying to descend to Summit Lake on foot after driving to the summit.
