Near Lake George Village, with secluded swimming and picnicking spots, the 12.7-mile Shelving Rock Big Loop Trail serves up technical terrain in the Lake George Wild Forest. Lake Champlain Bikeways is a 1,100-mile network of bike paths in and around the famous lake. You'll find 26 loops ranging from 6 to 50 miles in length, as well as the"Champlain Bikeway," which will take you clear into Canada. Get some great views of Lake Placid. Brewster Peninsula Nature Trails is a compact network that traverses gently rolling terrain and winds through a mixed forest and along the lake's shoreline. Take the steep but short bike climb to the summit of Black Bear Mountain, where you'll find great views of 7th Lake. The 4.5-mile trail starts out on flat terrain, then narrows and climbs at the mountain's base. Take your road bike and enjoy the scenery around Saranac Lake. Try the 18-mile Paul Smith's Loop, the 22-mile Forest Home Loop, or the 34-mile North Branch Loop, or pack a lunch and do the 70-mile Silver Lake Loop.
