Lodging
The two biggest, and most popular, lodging options in the park are Old Faithful Inn
and Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel and Cabins. The inn is a rustic, western-style experience located in the heart of the park. The hotel is more modern, with a resort feeling to it, and is located near the north entrance of the park. Both are great options for families.
For car camping, there are 12 campgrounds in the park. Some are first-come, first-served, and others are available for reservation at yellowstonenationalparklodges.com. Madison Campground has a sweet central location, no electrical hookups (which means more quiet), and plenty of opportunities for walks along the banks of the three rivers flowing nearby. Canyon Campground is a bit more crowded but offers more amenities, including pay showers, laundry, dining, and a gas station (filling up in surrounding towns is often cheaper, however).
