Looking up at General Sherman—the world's largest tree. General Sherman, 275 feet tall and with a trunk circumference of more than 100 feet, is the main attraction in Sequoia National Park's Giant Forest, which contains five of the world's ten largest trees. Sequoia sits side by side with Kings Canyon National Park at the southern end of California's Sierra Nevada mountain range and together the two comprise some of the most beautiful and diverse landscapes in the American West.

In spring and summer, Kings Canyon's Zumwalt Meadows are carpeted with wildflowers like this tiger lily.

Known for giant sequoias, the Sierra and Kings Canyon National Parks are rich in arboreal diversity. The rare foxtail pine is found in the parks' subalpine regions, often at or near the tree line.
