Taconic State Park
Taconic State Park is located along 11 miles of border separating New York State from Massachusetts and Connecticut. Two developed areas, Copake Falls and Rudd Pond, offer an extensive trail system that provides challenging terrain and spectacular views. The Copake Falls Area, in addition to campsites, has cabins, picnic and playground areas. Pit Pond, located in the park, has a beach and adjacent wading pond. Pit Pond and Bash Bish Brook are favorite places for trout fishing. The park also has extensive hiking, biking and nature trails, as well as cross-country ski and snowmobile trails for winter recreation. The Copake Falls Area also offers an iron industry museum.
Rudd Pond features tent, trailer and RV campsites, a bathing beach, fishing, boat rentals and boat launch. Ther are also a picnic area, a playground, hiking, biking and nature trails. In winter, visitors can ice skate on the pond, conditions permitting.
Big-game hunting is permitted.
Neaby are Olana State Historic Site, Clermont State Historic Site, Ogden Mills & Ruth Livingston Mills State Park and Lake Taghkanic State Park.
