Sarvis Creek Wilderness

Located in the Routt National Forest in Colorado.

The 47,000-acre Sarvis Creek Wilderness is located 13 miles southeast of Steamboat Springs. Elevations within the wilderness remain below the timber line, ranging from 7,000 feet to 10,700 feet. The wilderness is characterized by forests of lodgepole pine, subalpine fir and Engelmann Spruce with occasional meadows. Two creeks, Service and Silver, flow through the forest to the Yampa River. A wide variety of wildlife can be found in the forest including deer, elk and bear. The experienced angler will find the streams inhabited by trout. The wilderness contains about 20 miles of constructed trails and offers a high degree of solitude.
