Colorado's Hot Springs Heavens
Although it's next to a motel in the middle of town, this camp provides a pleasing, natural ambience, offering riverside sites and lots of pine and cottonwood trees mixed with a few firs and aspens. The tent and RV spaces are separated, with a central grassy area for tenters and larger, more defined spots for RVs. A city park within walking distance has large grassy areas for picnicking, hiking trails, and stocked fishing, as well as an ice-skating rink. You're also within minutes of two luxurious hot springs resorts in town: the beautifully landscaped Springs, located at The Spring Inn, and across the street, the simpler Spa Motel.
Location: In Pagosa Springs.
Directions: The campground is located at 191 East Pagosa Street (U.S. 160) in downtown Pagosa Springs.
Campsites, facilities: There are twenty-six full-hookup sites for RVs of any length, and a separate area for tents. Drinking water, picnic tables, and bathrooms with hot showers are provided. Laundry facilities, motel rooms, and cabins are available. Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are permitted. The elevation is 7,100 feet.
Reservations: Reservations are not accepted. Sites range from $14 to $21 a night and the San Juan is open year-round.
