Pond Creek National Wildlife Refuge

The purpose of the refuge is to protect, enhance and manage a valuable bottomland wetland ecosystem for the benefit of migratory and resident waterfowl, neotropical migratory birds, wading birds and other wetland-dependent wildlife.

Pond Creek NWR is located in Sevier County near DeQueen, AR, and lies primarily in the floodplain between the Cossatot and Little Rivers. Pond Creek's potential contribution to the function and integrity of the Arkansas-Red Rivers ecosystem is extraordinary.

Management of this vital wetland area is minimal and consists primarily of "custodial" activities such as boundary posting and limited law enforcement.
