New York City Guide: Biking Within 0 - 25 miles
New York City Highlights
- On summer Sundays, Central Park is closed to motorized traffic and is taken over by cyclists and rollerbladers.
- Ride the East Ride starting at the Whitehall ferry, using mostly bike paths with a little street riding. You’ll be mostly on bike-path greenway, following the East River Esplanade and the Bobby Wagner Walk. For a spectacular view of New York, take a detour over the Brooklyn Bridge (on the pedestrian/bike walkway).
- Start at Whitehall Ferry Terminal or Battery Park all the way downtown and ride the Hudson River Greenway up the west side to the beautiful Cloisters, the medieval wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
- For a short ride with huge views of the midtown Manhattan skyline, take the bike path around Roosevelt Island, located smack in the middle of the East River.
