Colorado's Hot Springs Heavens

Although it's right next to a major highway, this open, treeless camp provides breathtaking views of the Sangre de Cristo and San Juan Mountains. The sites are carpeted with scraggly grass, beside a little convenience store, with clean facilities and friendly owners. Downtown Alamosa, located a short drive west, has full services and even a hot springs resort (Splashland Hot Springs).

Location: West of Alamosa.

Directions: From Alamosa, drive one and a half miles west on U.S. 160.

Campsites, facilities: There are forty-six full-hookup sites for RVs of any length, and a separate area for tents. Drinking water, picnic tables, fire grills, and bathrooms with hot showers are provided. Laundry facilities, a small store, and a phone are available. Some facilities are wheelchair accessible. Leashed pets are permitted. The camp is at an elevation of 7,500 feet.

Reservations: Reservations are accepted and there is a nightly fee for sites. The campground is open from April to November.
