Little White Salmon-Willard National Fish Hatchery Complex
Directions to Little White Salmon Unit: Approximately 12-1/2 miles E of Stevenson along Highway 14. Turn at W end of Little White Salmon River Bridge and travel along the river road approximately 1 mile to hatchery.
Directions to Willard Unit: Approximately 12 miles E of Stevenson along Highway 14. At Cook, turn onto Cook-Underwood Road and travel for approximately 6 miles to hatchery.
Primary Wildlife: Spring chinook upriver; bright fall chinook and coho salmon are spawned at the Little White Salmon Unit beginning in mid-July and continuing into November. 6,000,000 fall chinook and 2,000,000 spring chinook are reared at Little White Salmon and 2,500,000 silver salmon are reared at Willard. Fish at both units are released into the Little White Salmon River for migration to the Pacific Ocean.
Recreation and Education: Both units are open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The best time to visit Little White Salmon Unit is mid-July through the middle of November during the heaviest spawning period when large adult salmon are available for viewing. The best time to visit the Willard Unit is late spring through early fall; fingerling fish are present year-round. Conducted tours may be arranged at both units.
