Leatherwood Wilderness
Located in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas.
This wilderness area, the largest in Arkansas, contains 16,956 acres located in Marion, Baxter and Searcy Counties, Arkansas. Steep, rugged terrain characterizes this area with an upland oak-hickory forest type. The famous Buffalo National River forms part of its boundary. General location of this area is 22 air miles northwest of Mountain View, AR.
Directions: From Mountain Home, take State Highway 5 about 15 miles south toward Norfolk. Just before Norfolk turn East and south on Forest Service Road 1100 and drive approximately two miles to the parking lot.
