Leaf Wilderness

Located in the De Soto National Forest in Mississippi.

The Leaf Wilderness is a 960-acre tract located in the floodplains of the Leaf River. All but the western edge of the Wilderness, which is uplands, consists of oxbow lakes and level terrain. Vegetation is mostly loblolly shortleaf pine forest and oak, gum, cypress, and spruce pine on the river bottoms. Access to the area is from a recently completed hiking trail.

Directions: The trailhead is located on the east side of MS Highway 57, approximately 10 miles north of Benndale, MS, and six miles south of McLain, MS.
