Hauser Wilderness

Located in the Cleveland National Forest in California.

The 8,000-acre Hauser Wilderness is characterized by a mountainous terrain with steep slopes of 10 to 20 percent. Elevations within the wilderness range from 1,600 feet at Barrett Reservoir to 3,681 feet southwest of Bronco Flats. Granite boulders and rock outcrops are common. Vegetation is chaparral and coastal sage except for areas along Salazar and Boneyard Canyon drainages. The Pacific Crest Trail passes east of the area. Visitor permit are required to enter the area. Group size is limited to 15 persons per permit. No campfires, hibachis or BBQ's allowed in the wilderness. Use of propane stoves is permitted.
