Gospel Hump Wilderness
Located in the Nez Perce National Forest in Idaho.
Located near Elk City, Idaho's newest wilderness, The Gospel Hump Wilderness Area was formed under the Central Idaho Wilderness Act of 1980. There is a wide range of elevation in the area ranging from 3,500 feet at the Salmon River to 8,940 feet at Buffalo Hump. Oregon Butte and Buffalo Hump are popular places to hike, and the Elk City Road is a fascinating trip through Idaho's mining past.
