Franz Lake National Wildlife Refuge

Directions: Located along Washington State Highway 14, 15 miles E of Washougal, Washington.

Primary Wildlife: Franz Lake and associated wetlands provide wintering habitat for Canada geese, a variety of ducks and up to 1,000 tundra swans. Upland habitat supports raptors, forest passerine birds, and big game.

Habitat: 493 acres. 395 acres of large shallow floodplain lake (Franz Lake) and adjacent wetlands and 98 acres of forested upland in the Indian Mary Creek watershed, which flows into Franz Lake.

Special Note: Franz Lake NWR is closed to all public access until a management plan is developed for the area. The refuge can be viewed from State Highway 14.
