Curacao

Curacao Highlights

  • More than 60 mapped trails crisscross Curaçao's rural landscape that extends in all directions from the capital of Willemstad, making the island an ideal active vacation option for adventure travelers.
  • Consider exploring the most rugged areas with a knowledgeable guide. Christoffel National Park, Curacao's crown jewel, can be overwhelming for first-time visitors. Open-air truck safaris, mountain-bike tours, bird and wildlife watching, and guided hikes can be arranged through the park's visitors center.
  • Nearby Shete Boca National Park is small enough for leisurely self-guided tours along groomed trails. Highlights include a dramatic coastline pocked with blowholes and the spectacular sea cave Boca Tabla.
  • On a scenic drive around the island, stop at historic plantation houses, called landhuizen, that have been restored as restaurants, inns, or museums with lovely grounds. Landhuis Chobolobo is home to the island's famous liqueur, Blue Curaçao, and tours are offered of the distillery and grounds.
  • Allow a half day to walk along Sint Annabaai (Saint Anna Bay), a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the colorful streets of Willemstad, capital of the Netherlands Antilles.
