Carson National Fish Hatchery
Directions: The hatchery is located at the confluence of Tyee Creek and Wind River about 14 miles N of the Columbia River, and about 60 miles E of Vancouver, Washington. Turn N from State Highway 14 about 3 miles E of Stevenson. Proceed 14 miles to hatchery.
Primary Wildlife: 2,000,000 spring chinook salmon are reared annually. When released in April to start their migration to the Pacific Ocean, they are about 5 inches long.
Recreation and Education: The hatchery is open daily from 7:30 arm. to 4 p.m. The best time to visit is in August when the adults are spawned. Conducted tours and lectures on fish culture may be arranged.
