Bruneau River

South of Mountain Home

Sheer-walled rhyolite canyons with areas of rock spires and lush riparian areas offer an exceptionally scenic and secluded desert floating experience. The upper canyon is the most scenic part and the easiest floating. Boaters can take out near the scenic overlook at Rogerson, but they'll have to climb out of the steep canyon. The second half, through Five Mile Rapids and Hot Springs Creek, is rocky and requires a lot of maneuvering. Only experienced boaters should attempt the lower part of the Bruneau, especially at high water.
