Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge
Directions to Office: Located at 509 Washington Avenue, Anahuac, Texas. To refuge: From I-10 at the Anahuac/Hankamer Exit go S 2 miles to FM 562. Continue S on FM 562 for 8.3 miles to FM 1985, and 4 miles E to refuge entrance.
Primary Wildlife: Migrating and wintering waterfowl.
Habitat: Over 30,000 acres of coastal marsh and prairie bordering East Galveston Bay.
Recreation and Education: Wildlife observation, fishing, and hunting.
Special Note: Refuge provides outstanding opportunities for viewing waterfowl, neotropical migrant songbirds, and alligators.
