The world's best natural aphrodisiac may very well be nature itself (and no, I'm not talking about watching excited animals go at it in the public zoo).

However, not everyone is comfortable (or capable) of letting nature run its course within the confines of a single mummy sleeping bag with Deep Woods Off sprayed behind his or her partner's ears.

So here's the good news: Even if your idea of getting wild in nature is a night in a suite at a Four Seasons hotel, the outdoors is the perfect place to get things started. Foreplay as Mother Nature intended.

Go Outside and Get Some
This doesn't necessitate an expedition deep into the rain forest or arctic tundra. I'm thinking mainly of the romantic stroll, in all its splendor.

Where to walk? Chances are laps around the living room with regular pit stops at the fridge won't likely yield the desired results. And the neighborhood circuit may be getting old. A little creativity may be in order.

Thinking outside the box—or tent—I turned my attention first to snow. The idea was to head for the deeper drifts (with snowshoes) and romantically inhabit the relatively deserted ski resorts. Then I thought many might prefer to abandon the snow altogether and make their way to the world's most inspiring vistas. Of course, when romance is involved, a number of cities come to mind. The cunning romantic, however, may wish to explore these urban jungles from a new perspective: being completely (and safely) lost. I'll get you started in the "wrong" direction in five of the world's great metropolises. And if all this sounds too tame, I've also listed a few potentially stimulating saunters and erotic excursions to help get you in the mood.
