Double Sheet Bend Knot

If the ropes you are joining together are slick, such as nylon line, you may want to add an extra loop into your sheet bend for greater security.

  • Create a bight in the larger of the two ropes to be joined.
  • Pass the free end of the second rope through the middle of the bight.
  • Wrap the free end twice around one side of the bight as shown above, pass it under its own standing part and cinch the knot tight
