If the ropes you are joining together are slick, such as nylon line, you may want to add an extra loop into your sheet bend for greater security.
- Create a bight in the larger of the two ropes to be joined.
- Pass the free end of the second rope through the middle of the bight.
- Wrap the free end twice around one side of the bight as shown above, pass it under its own standing part and cinch the knot tight
