Camping With Kids
Most little kids like to help. Even it they don't, camping is your chance to get them in the groove. They're likely to he more willing to pitch in out-doors, where teamwork seems moreimportant, where problems and solutions are more immediate.
Will loves to assist with such things as unloading the car and pulling tile tent. With supervision, he can dole out tent stakes, fill a water bucket, and carry sleeping bags. Each year he becomes a more accomplished camper.
Such tasks can almost always be accomplished more quickly without pint-sized help. At home, when chores start to pile up, I fantasize about the amazing feats I could accomplish during a weekend, or even a day, without Will. Remember; though, that the whole point of family camping is letting kids be part of the act. You'll keep them happy, teach them camping skills, and foster a general sense of responsibility.
The routine will go more smoothly if you think of your tent not only as shelter, but as the family amusement center. Kids of all ages love to play in tents. They're a natural playpen for babies and a convenient diaper changing station.
They're great playhouses for older kids whose parents need a break or have work to do.
