Ross Creek Scenic Area
Located in the Kootenai National Forest in Montana.
The Ross Creek Scenic Area encompasses 100 acres. Reached by four miles of Forest road from State
Highway 56, the Ross Creek Scenia Area is a grove of ancient Western Red Cedars growing along the
banks of Ross Creek. A .9 mile self-guided nature trail forms a winding loop through the grove.
Informative signs along the trail provide the history and ecology of the many plant and animal species
native to the grove. The giant cedars reaching eight feet in diameter and l75 feet tall are complimented by
large specimens of other western trees, lush ferns and flowers growing from the shady forest floor. There
are streamside picnic grounds, but no camping facilities at the Cedar Grove.
