Open year-round. Canyon Rim Visitor Center is open daily (except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's) from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with extended hours in the summer. Visitor centers in Thurmond, Grandview, and Hinton are open daily during the summer; Grandview and Hinton are open weekends during the off-season.

Transportation
Located in southern West Virginia, just over one hour east of Charleston, and 20 minutes from Beckley. Narrow, winding, mountain roads provide access to the New River.
To Park: by personal vehicle via Interstate 64 & 77, U.S. Route 19. Airports in Beckley and Charleston; AMTRAK stops at Montgomery, Thurmond ("flag" stop - reservations required), Prince, and Hinton. In Park: personal vehicle, by foot, or boat; bicycle and horseback on designated trails.
