Paddling in Wisconsin's Nicolet National Forest
Nicolet National Forest offers a full range of paddling experience. The best time to go is the high water periods of late spring and early summer. In fact that's the only time you can run some of its rivers. But whether you want a lazy paddle with maybe a little relaxed fishing thrown in, or you want to contend with expert-class whitewater, Nicolet has something to offer. Whatever river (or rivers) you choose to explore, the scenery will be great, the wildlife magnificent.
All of these trails are in Nicolet National Forest.
Waterway List

- Brule River: Reliable, safe and scenic, with varied habitats for wildlife. Keep your eyes open for eagle and osprey.
- Oconto River: A backcountry challenge.
- Peshtigo River: Paddling in the spring, fishing and wildlife all the time.
- Pine River: A primitive experience with very little shoreline development.
- Popple River: Wild and undeveloped.
- Wolf River: Challenging rapids for experts.
