DIRECTIONS TO REFUGE: Office/Visitor Center is seven (7) miles South of Summerton and four (4) miles North of Santee on U.S. Highway 301/15.

ENDANGERED & THREATENED SPECIES ON THE REFUGE: Bald eagle, American peregrine falcon, Red-cockaded woodpecker, American alligator.

OTHER WILDLIFE SPECIES: Waterfowl, white tail deer, migratory songbirds, turkeys and bobcats.

HABITAT DESCRIPTION: The refuge is located on the shores of Lake Marion and consists of open water, freshwater marshes and impoundments, bottomland and upland forests, and open fields.

FOCUS ACTIVITIES: Waterfowl management, neotropical bird management, and public use.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC USE: Visitors Center, fishing, hunting, hiking, birdwatching, wildlife drive, boating, and the Santee Indian Mound.
