Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area - Camping
Tent and RV sites are available at the concessionaire-operated Dingmans Campground. Primitive campsites are available for through-hikers on the Appalachian Trail and canoeists on extended river trips.
Dingmans Campground
This campground is operated under a concession permit from the National Park Service. Located along Route 209 in Dingmans Ferry, PA, it is open April through October 15. Email info@dingmanscampground.com, phone (570) 828-1551, or write Dingmans Campground, 1006 Route 209, Dingmans Ferry, PA 18328.
River Camping
Designated primitive camping areas are available along the river for boaters traveling from one access point to another when the distance is too great to be covered in one day. Campsites are limited to a one-night stay, and are on a first-come, first-served basis. No permits are required, and no fee is charged.
Group Camping
Two group camping areas (one in New Jersey and one in Pennsylvania) are available Friday and Saturday evenings to nonprofit organizations such as Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and church groups. Requests for group camping permits or for additional information should be directed to the Gaps superintendent.
Appalachian Trail Camping
Camping is permitted for hikers on extended trips using the trail within the recreation area. An extended hiking trip is a trip planned for two or more days, with camping occurring more than 1/2 mile from the departure point. Camping is limited to within 100 feet of the trail. Campfires are prohibited; a self- contained stove may be used for cooking.
