U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - New Hampshire Projects
Blackwater Dam
The streamside environment includes a meandering eight mile stretch of the Blackwater River, an excellent canoe stream stocked with trout. Hunting and snowmobiling opportunities. From Concord, 8 miles N on I-93. Exit 17 onto US 4 N, S on NH 127.
Edward MacDowell Lake
The 165-acre shallow lake and adjacent lands are managed by the state for fishing and hunting. A picnic area is located next to the dam. From Nashua, US 3 to Exit 7, W on NH 101A and 101 to Peterborough; follow signs to dam 4 miles W.
Everett Lake
.Clough State Park offers swimming, picnicking, and boating on the 130-acre lake. Boats with motors prohibited. Fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling are popular. From Manchester take Everett Turnpike to Exit 10, then NH 101 W to NH 114, to NH 13 N; follow signs to Clough State Park and Everett Dam. Also see
Franklin Falls Dam
The 15-mile stretch of the Pemigewasset River, which flows through the reservoir lands, is popular for fishing. Reservoir area is managed by the state for fish and wildlife. Scenic Profile Falls attracts tourists; canoeing, hunting, and snowmobiling are also popular. From Concord, 20 miles N on I-93 to Exit 22, S on NH 127, 3 miles to the dam.
Hopkinton Lake
Elm Brook Park offers swimming, picnicking and boating, with a 220-acre shallow lake. Areas for group outings are available by Special Use Permit on a first come-first served basis by calling 603-746-4775. Reservoir area and Stumpfield Marsh provide canoeing, wildlife observation, fishing and hunting opportunities. From Concord and I-93, N on I-89 to Exit 6, S on NH 127.
Otter Brook Lake
Park offers swimming, picnicking and boating (no motors) at the 70-acre lake. Hunting and fishing are popular. From Keene, E 2 miles on NH 9 to recreation area.
Surry Mountain Lake
The park has a large beach and picnic area on the shore of the 260-acre lake; 10-hp limit for boats. Fishing, hunting, and boating are popular. From Keene, 6 miles N on NH 12A.
