El Dorado Lake
An overlook provides unobstructed view of this 8,000-acre lake impounding the Walnut River in Butler County. From Wichita, about 20 miles NE via I-35, then 6 miles E on KS 54, 1 mile N
on KS 177.
Elk City Lake
A precipitous rock bluff marks the north margin of the river for several miles above the dam
site. The state of Kansas uses 11,680 acres of project lands for wildlife management and public hunting. From Independence, 7 miles N on US 75, 4 miles W and 2 miles S on county road.

Flowers, birds and game enhance this project in rolling prairie country. The 10,900-acre
Fall River Game Management Area is located here. From El Dorado,10 miles S on US 77, 46 miles E on KS 96.
Hillsdale Lake
This newly developed lake is located in the transition zone between the western prairie lands and the eastern hardwood forests, making it attractive to all types of wildlife. From Kansas City, 26 miles S on I-35, 12 miles S on US 169, 2 miles W to Hillsdale Lake.

John Redmond Reservoir
Sightseers will enjoy the Flint Hills Wildlife Refuge. Enjoy wandering old Indian grounds. From Emporia, 27 miles E on I-35; 11 miles. US 50, 25 miles S on US 75.
Kanopolis Lake
The nearby Fort Harker Museum at Kanopolis and the Rogers Art Gallery and Museum at Ellsworth portray the settlement of the American West. Kanopolis is also the home of the state's first State park. Early Indian rock carvings on Inscription Rock in Horse Thief Canyon offer an interesting glimpse into the past. From Salina, 26 miles SE on KS 140, 10 miles S on KS 141.
Marion Lake
Ruts of the old Santa Fe Trail and a few pioneer adobe houses may be seen in the area. From Newton, 24 miles N on KS 15, 12 miles E on US 56.
Melvern Lake
Located on the east edge of the Flint Hills region, Melvern features a 12-mile equestrian trail and 2 self-guided nature trails. From Topeka, 39 miles S on US 75. From Kansas City, 72 miles SW on I-35.
Milford Lake
The Milford Conservation Education Center and Fish Hatchery are located below the dam. From Topeka, 63 miles W on I-70, 5 miles N on US77.
Pearson-Skubik/Big Hill Lake
Located on Big Hill Creek in Labette County, this lake impounds 1,240 acres of water. It has three public use areas totaling 367 acres. From Independence, 7 miles E on US 160, 4 miles N on KS 169, 5 miles E on county road.
Perry Lake
Hikers will enjoy the scenic beauty of the 30-mile National Recreation Trail, which follows the eastern shoreline. From Topeka 17 miles NE on US 24 to Perry.
Pomona Lake
Located near the Santa Fe Trail, this 4,000-acre lake features scenic beauty as well as an abundance of wildlife. Interpretive programs are presented at the Poweshieck Amphitheater. From Topeka, 24 miles S on US 75, 7 miles E on KS 268.
Toronto Lake
The state's only granite outcrop is located here, at the scene of a short-lived gold rush in 1887. From El Dorado, 50 miles E on US 54, 9 miles S on KS 105.
Tuttle Creek Lake
Fort Riley, Kansas State University, and the Prairie Parkway are among the nearby attractions. From Topeka, 45 miles W on I-70, 15 miles N on KS 177.
Wilson Lake
One of the prettiest lakes in the state, Wilson features clear blue water and excellent striper fishing. From Salina, 48 miles W on I-70, 7 miles N from the Wilson exit.
