Beaver Lake
Beaver Lake Located in the picturesque Ozark Mountains, Beaver Lake is noted for excellent fishing and hunting. There are caves and museums nearby. From Fayetteville, 22 miles N on US 71, then E on US 62.

Blue Mountain Lake
In the Ouachita Mountains of western Arkansas. Excellent crappie fishing in the shadow of Mt. Magazine, the tallest mountain between the Rockies and the Allegheny Mountains. From Fort Smith, 50 miles E on AR 10.

Bull Shoals Lake
A popular area with anglers for its lunker bass. Float trips and trout fishing are available on the White River nearby. State park borders lake. From Little Rock, 135 miles N on US 65, 50 miles E on US 62 to Flippin, 4 miles N to lake. From Springfield, MO, S on US 65, then E on AR 14. Also see listings under Missouri.

DeGray Lake
A relatively new lake with sophisticated public use facilities. The excellent State park on the lake has a lodge, marina, golf course and campground. From Little Rock, 55 miles S on I-30 to Caddo Valley, 2 miles N on US 67.

DeQueen Lake
Located on the Rolling Fork River about 4 miles NW of DeQueen, with 4,000 acres open to hunters. Whitetail deer is the principal game. Other wildlife includes squirrel, cottontail and swamp rabbit, raccoon, bobwhite quail, and duck. From DeQueen, 8 miles N on US 71; 5 miles W to lake.

Dierks Lake
Near the Ouachita National Forest. From Texarkana, 46 miles N on US 71, 11 miles E on US 70 to access road.

Gillham Lake
On the Cossatot River about 6 miles NE of Gillam there is good hunting on 5,400 acres. Game includes whitetail deer, squirrel, cottontail and swamp rabbit, and bobwhite quail. Most waterfowl are found in the downstream flood plain. From DeQueen, 15 miles N on US 71, 5 miles E to lake.

Greers Ferry Lake
A highly developed and popular recreation area. Sugar Loaf Nature Trail, on an island in the lake, has received many awards for scenic beauty. From Little Rock, 15 miles N on US67-167, 50 miles N on AR 5.

Lake Greeson
Chimney Rock ,an outstanding geological formation, and a cinnabar mine nature trail are located at the project. From Little Rock, 60 miles S on I-30 to AR 26, 37 miles W to Murfreesboro, 6 miles N on AR 27.

McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System
Completed in the 1970's, this 440-mile waterway connects Tulsa, OK to the Mississippi River and the Gulf of Mexico, providing economical transportation for the region's agricultural and industrial products. Good boating, fishing, scenery and nearby historical sites along the river attract several million visitors to its numerous parks each year. From SE to NW, the locks, dams and lakes on this waterway in Arkansas include:

Norrel Lock and Dam (#1) and Wilbur D. Mills Dam (#2) ---Located about 50 miles S of Stuttgart. Anglers can fish for crappie, catfish, or bream from boats or the riverbanks.

Locks & Dams 4 & 5 -Lock & Dam 4 is 15 miles E of Pine Bluff, and Lock & Dam 5 is 15 miles NW. The Arkansas Fish & Game Commission has stocked the pools formed by these dams with sport fish such as bass, crappie and catfish.

David D. Terry (#6) and Murray (#7) Locks & Dams -Located on the eastern and western city limits of Little Rock, the recreation activities provided by these two pools attract many outdoor enthusiasts. The pools offer excellent fishing, especially in the old river cutoffs and the tailwaters downstream of each dam.

Toad Suck Ferry (#8) and Arthur V. Ormond Lock & Dam (#9) -Lying between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains, the pools reach 48 miles up the Arkansas River from Conway to Russellville. This stretch of river provides excellent fishing and boating, with scenic views of the mountains and fertile farms along the riverbank.

Lake Dardanelle -A large lake on the upper Arkansas River in the hills of western Arkansas. Good boating and fishing. From Little Rock, 65 miles N on I-40. Ark 7.

Ozark Lake -Located near the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests, a good fishing spot for catfish, bream, crappie and bass. From Fort Smith, 35 miles E on I-40.

Millwood Lake
Excellent fishing year round. From Texarkana, 16 miles N on US 59-71, 9 miles E of Ashdown on AR 32.

Nimrod Lake
A hunting and fishing paradise, Nimrod offers largemouth bass, channel cat, crappie and bream. The project includes a duck hunting area, wildlife refuge, and goose sanctuary. Food and cover plots have been developed for quail. From Hot Springs, 40 miles N on AR 7.

Norfork Lake
Noted for good fishing, nearby attractions include caves, museums and golf courses. From Little Rock, 135 miles N on US 65, 50 miles E on US 62.

Lake Ouachita
High in the Ouachita Mountains near the resort spa of Hot Springs, the exceptionally clear water of Lake Ouachita is popular with skin divers. From Hot Springs, 13 miles W on AR 227.

Ouachita-Black Rivers Navigation Project
Two navigation pools with 6 recreation areas provide river access, camping and day-use facilities along the upper reaches of the 322-mile navigation system. Project headquarters (Monroe Navigation Field Office) are located at 3505 South Grand St., Monroe, LA. From north to south the pools are:
H.K. Thatcher Lock & Dam Pool Project has 3 public access points to Ouachita River with picnicking, fishing and boating. Pool extends from Camden, AR south to H.K. Thatcher Lock & Dam (formerly Calion Lock & Dam) located 8 miles NE of El Dorado, AR on US 167 to Calion, AR then 6 miles SE on county road.

Felsenthal Lock & Dam Pool Project has 3 public access points to Ouachita River and Felsenthal National Wildlife Refuge with boating, fishing, camping, and day use. Pool extends from H.K. Thatcher Lock & Dam south to the Felsenthal Lock & Dam located 5 miles NE of Huttig, AR on county road.

Table Rock Lake
A highly developed lake in the southern Ozark Mountain region. Nearby attractions include caves, museums, and resorts. From Springfield, 45 miles S on US 65. Also see listings under Missouri.
