Outside the Park

Izaak Walton Inn (tel: 406-888-5700) is located right on the park's border in Essex, Montana. The property was built as a retreat for the employees of the Great Northern Railway. Nowadays it's a cross-country ski destination for anybody. Amtrak stops practically at their doorstep.

The Resort at Glacier (tel: 888-778-6279) is a big 117-room resort at the east entrance of the park in St. Mary. Standing as the gateway to the park's legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road, the 1930s lodge-style resort has modern amenities as well as unrivaled views of the park.
