Piegan Pass
A varied hike that links St. Mary area with Many Glacier area: wide range of elevations and ecological communities. No campgrounds, so you must be prepared to do it in a day. Trailhead: Siyeh Bend parking area Distance: 12.8 miles Level: Strenuous Altitude change: Climb 1,670 feet; descend 2,640 feet
Gunsight Pass
Popular trail that crosses the Continental Divide between Lake McDonald and St. Mary valley. In between you'll see gorgeous lakes, forests, glaciers, forests, waterfalls, wildlife. . . you get the idea. Trailhead: East to west: Jackson Glacier Overlook; West to east: Synder Creek Distance: 20 miles Level: Strenuous Altitude change: Climb and descend 3,787 feet
