DIRECTIONS
Approximately 26 miles north of the Arctic Circle, Northwest Alaska. No road access.
ACCESS AND INFORMATION
Cape Krusenstern National Monument, Kobuk Valley National Park and Noatak National Preserve together are known as the Northwest Alaska Areas. Their visitor information center in Kotzebue is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Here you can buy topographic maps, aeronautical charts and books on the region, and get information on hunting and fishing regulations, location of private lands within the park units, minimum impact camping, bear safety and other important topics. Kotzebue can be reached only by air. Its airport is served both by scheduled airlines and by many Alaska Package tour companies.
TRANSPORTATION
To Kotzebue, fly with Alaska Airlines out of Anchorage. From Kotzebue to the parklands, fly with various air taxi operators; scheduled flights to villages, charter flights to specific park areas. Summer access may include motorized/nonmotorized watercraft, aircraft, and travel by foot; winter access may include snowmobiles, aircraft, and travel by foot.
VISITOR CENTER
There is one visitor center in Kotzebue; there are no visitor facilities within the park.
LODGING AND CAMPING FACILITIES
There are no NPS developments, services, campgrounds, or trails in the parklands.
