The Lake Chelan National Recreation Area is situated around the glacier-carved Stehekin Valley. The area is situated just north of the Wenatchee National Forest, but no outside roads access this remote region surrounded by a wall of mountains. The 312-foot Rainbow Falls is a must-see. Visitors can hike or float their way into the area on a boat. Another option is to fly in on a float plane.

North Cascades National Park lies due north of Wenatche.

Explore large swaths of wilderness at Alpine Lakes, Glacier Peak, Henry M. Jackson, and Lake Chelan-Sawtooth.

Seattle sits some 45 miles west of the Wenatchee National Forest. The towns of Naches, Cle Elum, Wenatchee, Leavenworth, and Entiat, serve as excellent springboards for exploring the various sections of the forest.
