Hiking Veterans Point

Veterans Point Trail, #56, is an accessible trail at the north end of Pactola Dam. The Veterans Point project is a cooperative effort of the Rapid City Chapter 3, Disabled American Veterans (DAY) and the Forest Service. The paved portion of this one-mile trail is a challenging 6 percent descent to the lake, where wood piers offer people with disabilities a chance to test their fishing skills. Plans call for a bridge, more trail paving, picnic areas and benches.

Norbeck Overlook Trail on US 16A south of Keystone
Strawberry Lake south of Lead and Cook Lake north of Sundance offer accessible picnic areas and fishing
