Hiking Eagle Cliff Trails
The Eagle Cliff Trails are a self-guiding, loop trail system, signed at intersections with blazed trees marking the trail route. While Eagle Cliff Trails have long been recognized as a cross-country ski trail system, the area is also popular during the spring, summer, and fall for hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding.
Much of the trail system winds through stands of Ponderosa Pine, up shaded draws lined with Black Hills Spruce, and across meadows filled with native wildflowers.
Elevation: 5,760 to 6,520 feet Location: Trailheads are approximately 7.4 and 8.4 miles west of Cheyenne Crossing on U. S. 85.
The Eagle Cliff Trails were started by local skiing enthusiasts in the mid 1980's. Today the trails are maintained by the Forest Service and the Northern Hills Cross Country Ski Club.
