he Chattooga Trail runs along the Chattooga Wild and Scenic River, with its whitewater boating, hiking, and trout fishing opportunities. The trail connects with the trail systems of the Chattahoochee National Forest in Georgia, the Nantahala National Forest in North Carolina, and lands owned by Crescent Land and Timber, a Duke Power subsidiary in North and South Carolina. Horseback riding is also available on nearby Rocky Gap/Willis Knob Horse Trail. Several waterfalls are visible from this trail, King's Creek, Spoonauer, and the Narrows.

Directions: Major access point is near U.S. Highway 76 at the South Carolina/Georgia state line parking lot (on the Georgia side). Consult a Chattooga River map to find various trail access points.

Difficulty Level: Trail is primitive, varying from moderately to extremely difficult, depending on the terrain.

Site Amenities: No amenities are available in the river corridor. Camping is allowed within the guidelines described in the camping guide information sheet.

Safety: Be alert for poisonous snakes. Practice water safety near the river.

Open: Year-round. Winter can bring very cold water temperatures and hazardous trail conditions.
