White Mountain National Forest - Oliverian/Downes Brook Ski Trail
This trail system provides two loops, one
on the east near Oliverian Brook and the other on the west near
Downes Brook. A trail which follows the abandoned logging
railroad connects the loops. The East Loop is approximately 2
miles and the West Loop is about 1< miles. The connector is
approximately = mile. The West Loop will accommodate
novice to intermediate skiers, while the East Loop is a bit more
challenging, with a few hills where caution is advised.
For optimum trail conditions, please leave dogs at home.
Access: From the Saco Ranger Station proceed west on the
Kancamagus Highway toward Lincoln. In approximately 12 1/2
miles a crosscountry skier symbol will be visible on your left
(south of the highway). This indicates access to a 10 car parking
area which is the starting point for the East Loop . Approximately
1 1/2 miles further west on the Kancamagus Highway another
skier symbol designates access to the 10 car West Loop Parking
area.
