Trail at a Glance

Distances

• Livermore Parking to end of pavement: 2.7 mi
• To Russell Pond Access Road: 7.7 mi
• To Route 175/193: 9.7 mi

Difficulty: Beginner to Advanced

This is a Forest Service road connecting Waterville Valley and Woodstock. It is unpaved from Russell Pond Road to approximately the high point near the Oceola Trail. To ride from Waterville Valley, start at the Livermore parking area described for the Greeley Ponds Route. The paved road climbs, first gradually and then more steeply, to Thornton Gap (1519 feet). Here the road turns to dirt, descending down to Russell Pond Campground access. Continue downhill on the pavement to I-93 and NH Rte. 175. There is no formal parking area on the Woodstock side, but the route can be accessed by Exit 31 from the Interstate. From Tripoli Road, there are a number of logging roads and trails that can be explored.
