Best camping locations and horse feed are in Murray Park and on flat area between the Transfer Road and Roubideau River.

No bridge exists at the Roubideau River crossing. High spring runoff may make the crossing difficult or impossible until early June.

The Transfer Trail begins at a trail head immediately south of Oak Hill along the Transfer Road. Ample parking at the trail head is available for both vehicles and horse trailers. No other facilities are available. From the trail head, the route is well signed and easily located. About 1/2 mile from the trail head, location of the trail is less definite. Marker costs and blazes should help in this section to avoid confusion with cow paths.

From the Payne Mesa Road, travel from Payne Mesa Toad is no longer open to mechanized travel. Congress created the Roubideau Area in 1993. The congressional action closed the Roubideau Area and Transfer Trail to all mechanical uses. The trail drops off steeply from Ashley Ridge on the Murray Park bench. Keep right at the ponds.

Access #1: Take Transfer Road No,. 508 north from Divide Road 5.8 miles to Transfer Trail Head.

Access #2: Take Payne Mesa Road No. 506 from Divide Road 5.4 miles. Transfer Trail is small track about 1/3 mile beyond Roubideau Trail marker.
