This trail is a short but steep trail just outside town leading to a waterfall in the red cliff layer. No camping is available on this trail.
This quarter-mile trail leads from the Cornet Creek/Jud Wiebe trailhead up the relatively steep Cornet Creek drainage to a waterfall cascading over the red cliffs. Along the way it crosses avalanche, mud, and rock slide paths. In the fall, there are berries neat the bridge at the bottom. In the winter, the falls freeze into a solid ice cone, easily visible from the Coonskin lift. Hiking up the trail in the winter is not advisable due to steepness of terrain and icy conditions. In spring, the frozen ice cone melts slowly, leaving behind a frozen outer sheath as the falls start to run inside. In summer, the trail provides a quick and accessible escape from town.
Access: From Colorado Avenue in Telluride going east, turn left at Aspen Street and drive or walk three blocks to the Cornet/Jud Weibe trailhead.
