The San Jacinto Ranger District offers one of the most unusual trailheads in the country—a tramway. From there you can either go for short stroll or a more extended hike into the San Jacinto Wilderness. The Santa Rosa Wilderness, also in the San Jacinto district, has one official trail, the Cactus Spring Trail, which will immerse you in the Colorado desert environment.

The San Gorgonio District offers a similar range of options to San Jacinto, from short nature strolls to the glorious reaches of San Gorgonio Wilderness.

Deep Creek is the highlight of the Arrowhead Ranger District, which offers a dozen pleasant short hikes as well.

The Big Bear District has a nice array of trails, from easy one milers to the strenuous 3.6 mile Camp Creek National Recreation Trail or seven mile challenge of the Siberia Creek Trail.

Cajon is the lowest elevation ranger district in the forest; with some pleasant lower elevation trails and 30 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, but the big draw here is the Cucamonga Wilderness.
