Hiking Trails Ortega Corridor

1. West Horsethief Trail (6W11)
6.0 miles.
2200 N. elevation change.
The lower trailhead is at the end of Trabuco Canyon wash. The upper trailhead is on the N. Main Divide Rd.

2. Trabuco Canyon Trail (6W04)*
5.5 miles.
2300 ft. elevation change.
The lower trailhead is the same as #1 but leaves the West Horsethief where it makes a sharp turn to the right. The upper trailhead is near Munhall Saddle on the North Main Divide Road.

3. Los Pinos Trail (Landlocked)*
9 miles.
3300 ft. elevation change.
The lower trailhead is in Hot Spring Canyon 1.5 mi. beyond the San Juan Fire Station off the Ortega Hwy. (Hwy. 74). This trail ends on private property (Lazy W Ranch), and users must obtain permission prior to use.

4. San Juan Trail
11.6 miles.
2600 ft. elevation change.
The lower trailhead is in Hot Spring Canyon 3/4 mi. past the San Juan Fire Station. The upper trailhead is at Blue Jay Campground 2 mi. north of the Ortega Hwy. on Long Canyon Road.

5. San Juan Loop Trail
2.1 miles.
350 ft. elevation change.
The upper trailhead is off the Ortega Hwy. (Hwy. 74), across from the Candy Store. Lower trailhead is unsigned and is located at Upper San Juan Campground.

6. Viejo Tie
1.2 miles.
50 ft. elevation change.
The Tie connects the Chiquito with the San Juan forming a short loop.

7. Chiquito Trail
9.2 miles.
2000 ft. elevation change.
The lower trailhead is off the San Juan Loop Trail at the parking area across from the Candy Store on the Ortega Hwy. (Hwy. 74). The upper trailhead is at the east end of Blue Jay Campground approximately 3 mi. down the San Juan Trail.

8. El Cariso, Nature Trail
1.5 miles.
100 ft. elevation change.
A self-guided loop that begins at the Forest Service Station at El Cariso. Ask at visitor center.
