Located in the Ozark-St. Francis National Forest in Arkansas.

The 132-mile, Buffalo River, offers a variety of water currents through the Ozarks. The water can be quiet, allowing canoes to rest in small pools, as well as swift, the river drops 2,000 feet in its journey. Several trails provide access from the river to the wilderness. The 26-mile, Buffalo River Trail, winds along scenic overlooks through isolated forest lands — its upper region is strenuous.

Directions: From Harrison, take State Highway 43 south for 26 miles to Ponca.
