Challenge yourself to a trail ride along the 17 mile Surveyor's Ridge Trail near Parkdale or the shorter 5-mile Umbrella/Sahalie Falls loop near Hood River Meadows off Highway 35, Pineway/Snipes and Buck Creek trails north of Trout Lake, Washington also offer scenic cycling. Other good trails include the Larch Mountain Loop and the Gorge Trail 400 Area. Numerous road in the area are also recommended for biking. Roads to try include Larch Mt. Highway (14 miles), Columbia Gorge Scenic Highway (7 miles), Palmer Mill Road (10 miles), Old Camp A Loop, Multnomah Basin Road, Powerlines Road (10 miles), Forest Road N20, BPA Powerlines Road, Dry Creek Road, and Old Military Road. Roads in the previous list without mileage indications are 5 miles or less in length.

You can also take advantage of cross-country ski trails after they thaw. Exploring the Cave Creek beaver ponds and natural lava bridges near Trout Lake offers a nice riding opportunity. Be sure to check with area ranger stations to obtains information on current conditions and a list of other biking opportunities in the area.
