This knot works well tying together two lines of equal thickness. It is often used to tie off bandages in first aid and to secure packages.
Create a bight in the first rope.
Pass the free end of the second rope through the middle of the bight.
Wrap the free end around the back of the bight, then pass it back through the bight. Cinch the knot tight.
