The summit of Harmon Hill affords beautiful views of the picturesque college town of Bennington, Vermont. Mount Anthony can be seen to the west, and there is also a view of the Battle Monument, which commemorates the Battle of Bennington fought on August 16, 1777. There are also limited views to the north of Bald Mountain and Glastenbury Mountain.

The Hike

The hike begins at the Bennington Brattleboro Highway (Vermont 9). From the highway (elevation 1,360 feet), climb steeply up rock and log steps for nearly .5 mile. At mile .6, head southwest and begin to ascend more gradually.

At mile 1.5, you will enter a clearing; about .25 mile later, you will reach the open summit of Harmon Hill (elevation 2,325 feet). From here, retrace your steps back to the Bennington Brattleboro Highway.
